Message		Oakland’s homicide rate is nearly 60% higher than it was at this time last year. And, we have been rated the fourth most dangerous city in the US – not to mention the state of California’s murder capitol. We are in a crisis and I feel like our City Council has failed to adequately address this issue. A group I support called Oakland Safe Streets Committee has a comprehensive public safety agenda – the first item of which is getting more officers on the street. We need over 28,000 signatures to put this charter amendment on the ballot and give voters a chance to send a strong message to City Hall that we want our streets and neighborhoods back.
